Standard Features
The MQ-8 mechanical quill units are produced with a fine-grain iron casting that provides the rigidity and stability needed for quality operations. Drillunit will supply the MQ-8 completely ready for production. For mechanical efficiency and simplicity, a single motor is utilized for spindle speed and feed rates.
The quill is powered forward at a constant feedrate - for a constant chip load and improved tool life - Drillunit's unique ballscrew/quill assembly provides high-stability center-line thrust. The 2.250" diameter quill has a hardened and precision ground ballscrew around its circumference. The spindle is driven through the center of the ballscrew/quill assembly. This design affords high quill support - 1:1 engagement vs. projection ratio - even when the quill is fully extended.
The MQ-8 is the smallest mechanical quill unit that Drillunit builds. Since the front housing is just 4.25" wide, the MQ-8 fits into tight production setups. Yet, still achieves spindle speeds up to 6000 rpm and 8" of quill extension.
The MQ-8-AC unit also features the following items as standard equipment: choice of three spindle constructions w/ceramic coated seal diameter, motor bracket assembly, enclosed belt guard, timing belt drive, and three commercial epoxy filled limit switches.
