e-tekx: MAG Closes Gap in Production Software

A networked initiative for transparency and tailored improvement measures: e-tekx, MAG’s new software group, is closing the software gap between machine control and operations planning.  

The group’s product line includes CAM software for metal cutting and composite applications, a software package for real-time acquisition of machine and process data, reporting tools, and analytics as well as supplementary engineering services and application support. For networked production, MAG provides a wide variety of interfaces to machine tools with different controls in addition to components such as air compressors or other auxiliary equipment. The objective of all applications is to reach complete transparency in production and precise optimization measures. For Dr.-Ing. Jan Kotschenreuther, head of the business unit, the practice-oriented approach means a direct advantage for the customer: ”Our basic task is to achieve measureable and durable productivity improvements. For this purpose, we provide not only software, but also engineering, analysis and support capacities.

“According to Dr. Kotschenreuther, who received a PhD in engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute for Production Technology (wbk), first successes can already be reported: A large supplier to the oil and gas industry and a manufacturer of hydraulic and pneumatic components realized considerable savings due to the Freedom eLog software module. In both cases, increased efficiency and productivity resulted in return on investment of less than 12 months.

The e-tekx product portfolio and complementary services capabilities were debuted at METAV in Düsseldorf. In June, e-tekx will host guests at CORCOM, the MAG facility located in Rottenburg, where several critical production assets have been equipped with e-tekx’ Freedom eWARE Suite. During the upcoming in-house exhibition, live demonstrations of Freedom eWARE and the actual benefits realized by the CORCOM plant will be showcased.
