Prof. Dr. Jürgen Fleischer returns to his chair at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
The MAG group has accepted Prof. Dr. Jürgen Fleischer’s request to resign his position as MAG Chairman as of September 30, 2010, and return to his position as professor of manufacturing and assembly technology at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Prof. Fleischer has achieved the strategic targets of developing MAG into a leading manufacturing solutions provider with a strong and efficient organization. His initiatives also included the expansion of MAG activities in the areas of machine processing and mechatronics, as well as strengthening the company’s position in China. Prof. Fleischer contributed to important projects in MAG such as the opening of a new European composites center in Goeppingen, the endowment of a MAG Chair of Production Engineering at Shanghai Tongji University and MAG’s contribution to the German government’s “national platform for e-mobility”.
Dr. Mo Meidar, founder and owner of the MAG group, accepts Jürgen Fleischer’s decision and recognizes his significant contributions to MAG’s success. He appreciates Prof. Fleischer’s industrious efforts and dedication during the recent economic crisis. Dr. Meidar wishes Prof. Fleischer ongoing success in his position at KIT and looks forward to maintaining their amicable relationship.
As planned, Prof. Fleischer will return to his position as Chairman of the wbk – Institute of Production Science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Prof. Dr. Horst Hippler, President at KIT, looks forward to welcoming him back: “Jürgen Fleischer is one of the leading figures in the field of manufacturing technology. I am very pleased that he can contribute to the areas of science and research again, after a successful employment in the industry.”
Prof. Dr. Jürgen Fleischer, born in 1961, holds a doctorate in science and engineering from Karlsruhe University. He has held several senior management and academic positions, among others as Chief Engineer and Chairman at Karlsruhe University (TH), Vice President of Advanced Technologies at ABB Daimler Benz Transportation GmbH (Adtranz), President of the Product Unit Bogies at Daimler AG, and President Regional and Commuter Trains at Bombardier Transportation. After 12 years of employment in the industry, Jürgen Fleischer took over as Chairman of the wbk – institute of production science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Since 2008, he has been on leave, holding the position as Chairman of the Executive Board at MAG Industrial Automation Systems.
