MAG’s Renewable Energy business unit has been selected for a turnkey project. The renewal energies business unit will deliver a turnkey 30-MW system for photovoltaic modules to Poland from its production facility in Schaffhausen (Switzerland).
MAG has many years of know-how in the field of automated solu-tions for the production of solar modules and wind turbine systems, brought together in MAG’s Renewable Energy business unit with dedicated teams in Schaffhausen and Hebron/Kentucky (USA). This comprehensive expertise will now benefit Solar-Energy sp.z o.o. in Bożepole Wielkie, around 60 kilometers northwest of Danzig. MAG will provide the Polish company with complete turnkey systems for the production of photovoltaic modules from crystalline silicon. The 30-megawatt turnkey system will be designed and assembled at MAG in Schaffhausen (Switzerland). Solar-Energy will be pro-ducing the first photovoltaic modules on the new MAG system as early as in the summer of 2011.
"MAG's comprehensive expertise in the development and produc-tion of entire manufacturing systems and its service capabilities con-vinced us," said Zbigniew Kulik, president at Solar-Energy. "That's why we chose this manufacturer." He also stated that the system's high degree of automation would ensure the highest quality photovoltaic module production.
The new system will include all production steps for manufacturing photovoltaic modules: from loading glass, through connecting cells and lamination to assembly of the frames and junction box, testing and sorting. Since the target markets for Solar-Energy are in East-ern and Western Europe, the photovoltaic modules will receive the appropriate certificates. The exclusive use of quality European products and system components is intended to ensure the high quality of the photovoltaic modules produced.
"The contract from the Polish company Solar-Energy sp.z o.o. is another important step for MAG in the energy sector," says Gunter Connert, head of the European Renewable Energy business unit at MAG in Schaffhausen. MAG established the European team in late 2009. The main activities of this business unit include developing and implementing automated production solutions for solar modules and wind turbine systems. MAG supplies system solutions around the world for the production of solar modules based on the latest findings from the field of materials research – from semi-automated partial processes to complete turnkey systems. More than 30 auto-mated production facilities for solar modules were delivered to cus-tomers in America, Europe and Asia in the last five years.
