FT and FTR Series Floortype HBMs

Two versions of floor-type boring mills are available, the FT and FTR. The FT is equipped with a standard boring mill live spindle. The FTR adds a collinear rectangular ram for added reach and milling capabilities.

    Advantages

    • Substantial capacity with X axis travels to 16 meters or more and Y axis travels to 5 meters
    • Modular design – select machine features and capabilities based on applications. Choose from five headstocks – two or four-speed, 130 to 180 mm spindle diameter.
    • Design maximizes stiffness with wide way spreads, reinforced columns and preloaded rack and pinion X axis drive.
    • Exclusive MAG spindle growth compensation and dynamic ram displacement compensation produce precision machining conditions.

    Applications

Power and versatility, MAG horizontal boring mills lead the industry in these characteristics. Download the following video to see the action for yourself. Click here.

    • The rigidity of MAG boring mills makes it possible to take heavy cuts. The video shows several horsepower cuts including a 100 hp cut with a 10 inch face mill and cutting of stainless steel.
    • Programmable boring bars and contouring heads add machining versatility and reduce the number of tools needed by adding turning capabilities to live spindle HBMs and HMCs. The video demonstrates how these attachments handle a variety of part features.

    Automation

Speed Production with Automated Attachment and Tool Changing

Store and change additional heads from the convenient attachment storage rack. Contouring heads, programmable boring bars, right angle heads and spindle supports may be changed out quickly to speed production. Tool magazines capable of handling 60 to 120 tools are available. A platform simplifies tool loading.

    Options

MAG horizontal boring mill options make the machines more productive by offering machining versatility and automation. Turning, facing and contour boring operations are possible with contouring heads and programmable boring bars. The result is fewer setups, improved cycle times and reduced tooling costs. A variety of part mounting options are available.
