FTV series

Vertical machining center with fixed table

MAG FTV vertical machining centers deliver flexibility, speed, precision and proven productivity. These best-in-class machines are well-equipped with standard features and are offered with X-axis travels up to 5 meters and a full choice of options to meet 4- and 5-axis part processing needs.

FTVs incorporate a travelling column that contains all axis motions, allowing pendulum loading in cycle to reduce load/unload times and maximising spindle utilisation. The fixed table accommodates heavier loads with no effect on accuracy – as table droop and roll are eliminated – and provides greater capacity for multiple set-ups or components utilising all of the table.

Basic Machine

Machine bed

  • With FEM (finite element method) calculated welded steel construction
  • Heavily ribbed, extreme rigid and very compact
  • Many, especially strong transverse ribs form a box construction for excellent stability and rigidity between table and column construction 

Machine table

  • High-capacity fixed cast table
  • For heavy duty machining and big parts
  • High productivity and performance by multi use
  • Low table option for 4th-axis machining or big parts – Table mounted 150 mm lower to the machine base [option]
  • Centre partition for dual load operation [option]

Travelling column

  • Thick-walls, heavily ribbed cast column design with excellent damping characteristics
  • With FEM (finite element method) calculated and optimised
  • Thermosymmetrical build

Digital axis drives

  • Maintenance-free, brushless, digitally controlled three-phase servo motors in completely closed design
  • High working and rapid traverse speeds at constant positioning accuracy of axes
  • 40 m/min rapid traverse 
  • High acceleration 3 m/s² (X-axis), 4 m/s² (Y-, Z-axis)

Options

Dual Load Operation

  • Table splits in two independent work areas
  • Dual load operation feature enables to load/unload the machine whilst the machine is working on the opposite side 
  • No pallet changer necessary  
  • Table mounted clamping fixtures and 4- or 5-axis units can be used safely on both sides

4- and 5-axis units

The work capacity of the FTV machines extends extremely due to mobile 4- and 5-axis units which can be mounted to the present fixed table. Clamping fixtures can be economized since parts can be machined from several positions in one clamping device.
