The vertical VDM-H series combines the subsequent manufacturing steps for geared workpieces up to a diameter of 2,500 mm and module 28.0 on one single machine including: Turning, milling, drilling, threading, gear cutting and chamfering/deburring of the finished gear. All soft machining processes are executed in maximum 2 clampings. The VDM TM/H can also complete hardened gears via the skive hobbing method or with carbide endmills.
The complete machining of parts reduces the part throughput and eliminates errors due to the re-clamping of workpieces. Additionally, considerable savings in overall equipment investment and floor space savings are realised. Productivity can be even increased with an automatic tool changer and a pallet loading system.
The new concept is one of many configurations of the basic turning machine series VDM. The machine is available as combined turning and hobbing machine or as 5-axis and multi-spindle solution with different B- and Y-axes variants, driven tools, milling spindles and further tool- and automation options. The different processes and operator interfaces are based on the proven and reliable MAG and MAG Modul software modules. All processes are integrated in one single control with a common HMI rendering the operation for the single operator intuitive and worry-free.
