Düsseldorf, METAV 2008 – MAG Europe introduces Prof. Dr. Jürgen Fleischer (47) as its new chairman at METAV. Together with European President Markus Grob, who joined the machine tool corporation at the beginning of the year he forms the leadership team.
Prof. Fleischer started his career at the Institute for Machine Tools and Production Engineering at Karlsruhe University. In 1992, after several years as chief engineer of the institute he moved into industry for 10 years, among others as Vice President of Advanced Technologies at ABB Daimler Benz Transportation GmbH (Adtranz). Following the takeover of Adtranz by Daimler, Prof. Fleischer, as President of the Product Unit Bogies, was responsible for the entire bogies sector. When Adtranz changed owners in 2001 to the Canadian company Bombardier, Prof. Fleischer, as President of the Business Unit Bogies, took over responsibility for the bogies business of Bombardier Transportation, and in 2002 became President Regional and Commuter Trains.
Having returned to Karlsruhe University as the Chairman for Production and Assembly Technology and Head of the Institute for Production Technology in 2003, Prof. Fleischer now becomes Chairman MAG Europe to once again hold a leading position in a globally active industry leading company. However, MAG is not unknown to him: Since 2006 he has, aside from his teaching activities, been a member of the advisory board of MAG Industrial Automation Systems.
“With Prof. Fleischer we have gained a well-known and valued expert”, said a pleased Mo Meidar (Chairman MAG Industrial Automation Systems). Above all, this was very important for MAG as a company with their strengths and focus on technology, but also with regards to new products and businesses such as Infimatic, with their own CNC controls, and MAG Maintenance Technologies, as an integrated service provider.
With his expertise and understanding of science and research as drives for product development, Prof. Fleischer is predestined to operate within MAG Europe as a link between research and business. His scholarly work in the areas of production technology, machine tools and manufacturing systems design, combined with his sustained management experience, are an excellent basis for his new activities. His responsibilities as the representative of the Chairman of MAG Industrial Automation Systems in Europe include strategic business development in close cooperation with corporate management. He also oversees the operative implementation of corporate strategic goals, whose concrete realization in terms of operations and results is the responsibility of Markus Grob as President of MAG Europe.
